Dr. Michelle Shin graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University. Dr. Shin is passionate about and has broad experience working with pediatric vision, especially in the K-12 grade levels.
As a native to Southern California, Dr. Shin believes in giving back to the community she grew up in. She also believes optimal vision is necessary to learn and excel in school. On most days, Dr. Shin is out and about in Los Angeles county with Vision To Learn, a nonprofit that aims to provide vision care and frames for all school-aged children who need glasses. Dr. Shin completed clinical externships in ocular disease at JWCH Institute on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles and at the VA Medical Center in West Los Angeles. She has also performed international optometric community service work in Tanzania.
Dr. Shin was raised in the South Bay, and continues to enjoy the weather and beaches with her husband and two children. She loves Disneyland, traveling, crafting, reading books, checking out new eateries (especially desserts), and spending time with her family.
