Dr. Mai Dinh earned her Doctorate degree at UC Berkeley School of Optometry where she was part of the honors society during her optometric training. Prior to her optometric training, she graduated from the University of Arizona Honors College with a Bachelor’s degree in business management marketing and thematic health sciences. Her passion for optometry also earned her a scholarship to UC Berkeley Optometry, given to only 2 out-of-state students in her class. Dr. Dinh has advanced expertise in contact lenses, dry eye treatment, and ocular disease management including glaucoma & diabetic retinopathy.
Prior to joining Hope Vision Care, Dr. Dinh was the lead optometrist for glaucoma management at optometry offices in Santa Monica and Orange County. Dr. Dinh also gained experience in ocular disease management at an ophthalmology refractive and cataract surgery center in San Diego. She completed her clinical externship training at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, consistently ranked top 3 eye clinics in the United States. She also completed clinical externships at the Pacific Islands Veteran’s Affairs hospital, and the Casa Grande Community Outpatient Clinic. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Women of Optometry. She has performed international optometric community service work in Mexico, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
One motivation behind Dr. Dinh’s passion for optometry is her grandfather. Dr. Dinh’s grandfather lost his vision due to diabetic retinopathy. Despite losing his sight completely, he always said “There is always hope.” Our office name, Hope Vision Care is a tribute to her grandfather. In her spare time, Dr.Dinh spends time with her husband and three children. She also loves hiking with their two Shiba Inu dogs, design projects at home,arts/crafts, and of course country music.
